When your loved ones aren't ready for the real you.

Authenticity. Everybody is talking about it. Stripping back the layers and removing the masks to reveal the real you, beautifully, visibly and absolutely.

It’s a message I hold in high esteem and believe in totally.  Having faith that being ourselves is enough, just makes my heart sing.

Imagine living each day with the recognition that your authentic nature, vulnerability, passion, creativity, and everything you are effortlessly, is not only enough, but amazing. What a release. What a relief. There was nothing wrong with being you in the first place.

But what happens when the people closest to you don’t want you to change? They are comfortable with the masks that you’ve learned to wear so well. They like the edited version of you. Perhaps acceptance of yourself, highlights disapproval within themselves, and they resent you. What if being your authentic self, means some relationships change for the worse?
Staying hidden may feel safer and less exposing. You may experience less confrontation, conflict and less disapproval from the outside world. However, as long as you decide staying to hidden, you reinforce the message that you are not enough that secretly keeps you disapproving of yourself.
On the journey of embracing and accepting who we are, it is likely that we will ruffle some feathers; some people may dislike, fear or resist who we really are.

The more comfortable you become in your own skin, the less frightening being seen starts to feel, and the less important approval from others will be.
It is from our truth, that we access our inner wisdom, nurture our natural strengths and connect with our intuition.  It is through our authentic selves that we produce our greatest ideas and achievements, and feel the most inspired and content.
On my own journey of self acceptance, some relationships ended along the way. They left room for the wonderful relationships left in it to evolve and grow amazingly.

Being comfortable in your own skin is a continuous maintenance project. There is no on switch. The more you let the universe know you are ok with being you, the more the universe will let you know its ok to be you.

Being you is enough.  Being you is perfect.

With love,

Catherine x
